Description

Well here it is, the start to my revised Gotei 13~ Not in order, of course C: But I took a vote and it's the nerd squad up first, followed by the angry jock squad.

This is kind of a reboot/au to my Bleach ou! I might type out a Gotei primer if I'm not too lazy, but I'm mostly using this as a short break from Ghosttowns work C:

If you are curious about the division itself, you can check this out: Division 12 Primer
Otherwise I have some quick character bios for you!

Lieutenant "the only emotion i need is science" Tsoi
Name: Kato Tsoi
Age Appearance: mid 30s
Race: Shinigami
Nationality: Kazakh
Height: 5'7"
Build: Soft, not obviously muscular with wide hips and long, thin limbs
Eyes: Green
Hair: Ash brown, length reaches the back of her knees and is always worn in a ponytail
Noteable features: Freckles, burn scars over both forearms, surgery scar on abdomen
Attire: Kato wears a slightly modified, high-collared top with tight sleeves, standard hakama, and gutal boots instead of sandals. Often wearing a lab coat properly or tied around her waist, and wears yellow gloves up to her elbows to protect the damaged skin there.

Personality: Kato is a quiet, serious woman who goes out of her way to avoid much social interaction outside of her work. She's been described as cold, emotionless and obsessed with her job, dispassionate and uncaring. Kato has always known there was something atypical about herself, and was diagnosed with a personality disorder early in her shinigami career- she doesn't feel or process emotions like neurotypical people, and describes feeling a sense of detachment and a lack of concern for other people. This was fine for many years while she served in the 12th, and the lack of relationships made her one of the most dedicated members of the division. However, after a botched experiment that forced her to form bonds and care for a family, she learns what it's like to grow attached to people and care for them in her own way. With her return to active service, Kato is still pretty socially inept and prefers to keep conversations about missions and research. She does actively try to be courteous and respectful to her squadmates, but it's a work in progress and she still only shows much affection to her family.

Reputation: Kato has never been particularly well-liked or well-known, and gained her position through hard work and a close mentor-student relationship with the former-former 12th Captain Abrograr. Even when she was the captain of the 12th, she didn't often leave her division's grounds and was always a big mystery around the Gotei. Now, however, Kato has fourteen active-duty Shinigami children that like to tell embarrassing stories (and brag) about their mom, so she's become a lot less mysterious. Still pretty unapproachable unless she's with her captain.

Zanpakuto: Akzhurek (White Heart), a poison type
Sealed: Kato has chosen to leave her Zanpakuto in the form it was given to her, a standard katana with a brown sheath and brown handle wraps just like the asauchi given to students at the Shino Academy.

Shikai: In Shikai, Akzhurek becomes a simple recurved bow with a plain leather sheath of arrows with different colored feathers.

Shikai Abilities: Akzhurek's abilities center around several different toxins secreted by the arrows. There are three different toxins- one, a neurotoxin that stimulates constant neuron firing, causing muscle tremors, convulsions, and hyperactivity. One is a haemotoxin that prevents blood clotting, causing severe bruising and heavy bleeding when her opponents take a hit. And finally, one is a  depressant toxin that causes both physical and emotional numbness.

Each toxin has a build-up effect: each successful hit builds up the toxin's effect on her opponent.

Bankai: WIP

Trivia:
-Kato was chosen directly out of the academy by former 12th Captain Abrograr, and was her protege for many years. Abrograr liked the fact that she had no emotional attachments or distractions, and felt Kato was the perfect scientist.
-Kato succeeded Abrograr as the 12th's captain just before the First Quincy War, and served as captain throughout the entirety of the war.
-Due to the Quincies ruining the balance of souls, Kato set out to find a way to increase the birth rate in Soul Society, and guarantee children born would have potential to become Shinigami. However, her experiments went awry and Kato herself became the test subject- a spill subjected her to the drug she was developing, and she quickly found out that she succeeded. The drug caused her body to absorb spiritual essences from anyone she had contact with, and created children from those essences and her own. Though the pregnancy was much more rapid (three months instead of nine), Kato had to step down from captaincy and Abrograr had to step back in temporarily.
-Kato went through several pregnancies with multiples before she was able to stop the drug's effects, and at the end of it ended up with 14 children. With help from a few of her 'friends' and some of the Shinigami she knew were the other parents, Kato was able to raise the kids (and ended up a pretty good mom despite her personality).
-During this time, Kato became close to then-lieutenant Kelzang, one of the fathers, Sosh Rostov (another dad), and Captain Clio Erganes, another parent.
-After her kids grew up and moved out, Kato re-joined the 12th just after the Moonlit War, and was later promoted to lieutenant alongside Kelzang.
-The drug does have some lasting effects Kato is still dealing with- most obviously, it is slowly making her look (and feel) younger.
-Kato is a pretty well-rounded Shinigami, though she shines in Hakuda and Hoho.
-She is the strongest lieutenant in the Gotei because she was a former captain, and one of three lieutenants with a Bankai.

Captain "everyone's favorite monk dad" Dorje
Name: Kelzang Dorje
Age Appearance: early 50s
Race: Shinigami
Nationality: Tibetan
Height: 5'11"
Build: Thin and wiry with lean muscles built for endurance
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Greying black and kept closely shaved
Noteable features: Tattoos under eyes, hooked nose
Attire: Kelzang wears an unmodified, sleeveless Shinigami uniform with a yellow obi. He wears his haori like a traditional sanghati robe, and wears a necklace of red and brown prayer beads. Both of his ears have lobe and cartilage piercings that he usually wears small gold hoops in

Personality: Kelzang is a mellow, friendly man who is quick to help anyone that needs a hand, some advice, anything. He is wise and has many experiences to pass on... and often does so, with long, embellished stories. He loves to talk and get to know people, and he is one of the few officers that knows his entire division by name- he likes to be on familiar terms with people and encourages them to call him 'Captain Kelzang' instead of using his family name. Kelzang's temper is nonexistent and he has an endless amount of patience. He is an excellent listener, and Shinigami from every division often come to him for advice, even if they don't really know him, and he tries to make time to help anyone that seeks him out (and often has to be reminded by his lieutenant that he doesn't have time for that). He has an excellent sense of humor, even if most of his jokes are in the theme of 'bad dad jokes'. He's always willing to lend an ear, but you have to make sure you have several hours to spare because his conversations can meander for hours and no one (except Kato and the Captain Commander) has the heart to interrupt him.

Reputation: Kelzang is well-regarded by his peers and subordinates, and has been a positive influence on the not-so-great reputation of the 12th division. In fact, when he was a lieutenant under the former Captain Durani the two are credited with increasing the 12th's usually abysmal recruitment numbers and had created STEM outreach programs into the Rukon. This act has made him popular among the Gotei and Rukon citizens alike.

Zanpakuto: Thokmay (Unhindered), an electric type
Sealed:  Thokmay's sealed form is a single necklace of buddhist mala prayer beads Kelzang wears around his neck. There are 108 beads separated into sets of four with bright red marker beads.

Shikai: Thokmay becomes two sets of malas that Kelzang wears wrapped around his hands. On his left, the mala is white with red marker beads, and on his right are coral, also with red markers.

Shikai Abilities: Thokmay's abilities center around using electrical charges to increase Kelzang's abilities and hinder his opponents. Each mala gains charge when Kelzang lands a hit with them, and when he lands 108 hits with one mala, it reaches its full charge. Thokmay is considered a passive zanpakuto with only one direct attack.

-The white mala's charge enhances Kelzang's physical and mental capabilities. As the charge increases, Kelzang becomes faster and his reflexes and senses become more acute. at 108 hits, the mala begins to glow white and allows Kelzang to instantly regenerate any wounds sustained for one minute, before the count is reset. During that minute, Kelzang can use that charge to heal comrades as well.

-The coral mala's charge is transferred into Kelzang's opponents with each successful hit. These hits affect his opponent's nervous system- gradually impacting the victim's motor functions, senses, and mental capabilities. Each hit also causes increasingly strong electric shocks on impact. At 108 hits, the mala begins to glow and Kelzang can unleash a devastating arc flash, or electrical explosion, that can either be unleashed on one opponent upon a direct hit, or directed at the ground, which will affect all opponents in a 200m radius with a more muted effect. After the attack is unleashed, the count resets.

Bankai: In bankai, Thokmay's physical form becomes an arena- the mala becomes a border the size of a 400m track, with the beads themselves serving as a barrier to the outside world. Physically, the beads now appear to be made of bone and are about 5 feet tall. As the battle goes on, the beads shift in a clockwise rotation around the combatants. Kelzang himself gains spiral-like markings around his hands, both like the white mala of his shikai.

-As the beads shift around his opponent, the electric charge in the arena increases incrementally- about 30 seconds between each rotation. The charge, like his shikai, increases his abilities and negatively impacts his opponents. At 108 rotations, the arena itself releases a major arc flash, healing Kelzang and his comrades instantly and unleashing a devastating electrical attack at his opponents. Regular hollows and low-level quincy have been known to be completely vaporized by this attack, and it was widely used during the Moonlit War.

Trivia:
-Kelzang was a Nyingma Buddhist monk in his human life and has continued those practices, sometimes spending the entirety of his days off meditating.
-He has served in the 6th (as a regular Shinigami), 4th (in the mental health department), and 3rd (as a senior officer) divisions. He was always interested in the 12th and spending time at the Research Institute but was always wary of the division's leadership... Until Captain Duani took over after the Moonlit War.
-He helped counsel many people during his time in the 4th, especially after the Second Quincy War.
-He, alongside former Captain Manaan, was one of the biggest advocates for pardoning Quincy and Arrancar seeking asylum after their respective wars.
-He has not used his Zanpakuto as an actual sword in many years, and is probably the weakest swordsman out of the captains.
-His Hakuda skills, however, are only matched by Captain Layla Vital and Captain Tachibana Jun.
-He is close friends with the Kifo Chief, Eliot Rios.
-If it wasn't for his lieutenant he would spend most of his on-duty time socializing.
-Kelzang has probably changed the most, personality-wise, out of all my redesigned Bleach ocs.
