Kirei is waiting for the in the bathroom, and as soon as Andrew sets Jo down on the toilet she ushers him out of the room.
"Sorry babe, I gotta take off her bra."
"And I don't get to watch?" He asks cheekily, grinning before Kirei smacks his arm.
"Get out perv, my tits're more than enough for you!" He laughs and skirts around her, flinching slightly at the look Sauria gives him as he goes.
"Jo's boobs are mine." Sauria hisses lowly at him, almost too quiet to hear. It takes him a second to process the statement, and he turns in surprise only to find the door already shut.
" He chuckles, bemused, and heads back to check on Daisuke.
In the bathroom, Kirei turns back to Jo and hands her an ice pack, which she gratefully presses to her face, moaning softly. Sauria fidgets at her side, hurting for her.
"I'm gonna do yer face first, cause that gash is gonna take a bit more effort to fix." Kirei says, kneeling and opening the first-aid kit. Jo just leans over into Sauria, burrowing into her side and eliciting a gentle smile from her. Sauria rests her hand on top of Jo's head, stroking her hair in slow, deliberate movements.
" Sauria hesitates, unsure of what to say. "Um
So why do you have that jumbo first aid kit? Is one of your parents a doctor or something?"
Kirei shrugs as she digs through the kit and finds a sterile needle and thread. "Nah
They bought it for me though, when I got my first first-aid certification. I'm interested in medicine. And Jo gives me lots of practice."
"Do you want to be a doctor or something?"
maybe." She shrugs off the question and threads the needle. "Hold this for sec so I can clean 'em out first." Sauria nods and takes the needle, gently nudging Jo's head up.
"Ready?" Kirei holds up few antiseptic wipes, and Jo nods at her unhappily, pulling the ice pack away from her eye.
"This is gonna hurt." She says wryly, and starts with the cuts on her lips, moving onto her forehead quickly. There are still bits of dirt stuck inside, and she has to dig a bit to wipe them out, making Jo shudder slightly. When Kirei moves to the gash on her shoulders Jo bites her lip and tries not to whimper at the sudden sharp pain. Kirei moves slowly along the gash, making her swipes as gentle as possible, but Jo still hisses and grits her teeth, grabbing a fistful of Sauria's shirt again. Kirei finishes and grabs the needle from Sauria, returning to Jo's front.
"Alright Jo, I'll try to make this quick. Do you want something to bite down on?" Jo just shakes her head curtly and reaches for Sauria's hand, a sheen of sweat forming on her face and her breathing ragged from the pain. Sauria squeezes her shaking hand, aware of Jo's fear of needles and wishing she could just bury the girl in her bed and never let her leave again.
"Here we go then
And don't worry, if ya cry I won't tell anyone."
Jo starts to roll her eyes but Kirei puts her hands around her cut before she can, pinching it closed, making four quick stitches and removing the thread in fluid, practiced motions. Despite her experience, Jo is still quaking under her, her whole body completely tense besides the hand Sauria is holding. She has to make a conscious effort not to crush her girlfriend's hand, but she's grateful that it gives her something to focus on. Kirei moves into a comfortable position behind her and pats her shoulder.
"Ready?" As soon as Jo nods she pinches the flesh closed and pierces the needle in. She shuts out Jo's reaction so she isn't distracted, concentrating on the movement of her hands. Jo lets out a loud hiss that dissolves into a whimper, flinching and causing the muscles on her back to ripple awkwardly around the wound. She squeezes her eyes shut, crushing the ice pack in one hand and barely squeezing Sauria's hand in the other. Sauria winces at the pressure but bites her tongue, leaning down to cradle her girlfriend's head against her stomach.
"It's almost over baby
" She murmurs.
Forty quick stitches later Kirei is finished and pulls away from Jo, who is shuddering visibly at this point, her breathing shallow and ragged and her face buried in Sauria's stomach.
Jo sighs audibly in relief, and Kirei tosses the needle and the bloody wipes into the trash and wipes her hands off. She turns to observe Sauria engulf Jo in a hug, planting gentle kisses on her forehead and murmuring words of comfort.
"Hey." Kirei states, and Sauria looks over at her. Jo just leans into her, eyes still closed.
"You should help her shower off, then wrap those cuts up. Make sure you clean up her knuckles too. There's some gauze in there, and I'll drop some clean clothes off for her
Andrew left some sweats here that'll fit her." Sauria nods.
" She breathes, more grateful to the fact that Kirei is giving them some alone time. Kirei just smiles and nods.
"Yeah, it's cool. Jo does stupid shit all the time, I'm used to it. And like I said, it's good practice." She pats Sauria's arm before exiting the bathroom, closing the door behind her.
Gods are you okay?" She murmurs as soon as the door clicks shut. Jo can't answer, but gives her a pained but genuine smile. She drops the crushed ice pack and pulls Sauria's hand closer, pulling open her fingers so her palm is open in her hand. Jo taps her palm with her free hand, then starts tracing deliberate shapes there. Her hands are still shaky but Sauria can make out the letters easily enough.
Sauria sighs and can't help but giggle softly. "Oh, it hurts, huh?" Jo nods in assent, her grin faltering into a wince. "Well you were quite a trooper anyway. I would've been crying." Jo just rolls her eyes derisively.
"Come on, Jo, this looks bad
you're really hurt
" Her last words come out a bit choked. Jo squeezes her hand slightly and traces again.
She gives a proud-of-herself grin. Sauria isn't as pleased, but can't help her smile. She wipes her eyes with her free hand and sighs.
"I don't care that you won, I want you to be okay! I don't
I don't want us to be tag-teaming out of the hospital, okay? And I hate it when you're hurt
" Jo's face falls.
As soon as she's done she kisses the middle of Sauria's palm gently.
"It's okay baby, you're okay." Sauria didn't mean to make her feel guilty. "Come on, let's get in the shower. You need one bad." Jo pouts at this, and Sauria giggles and strokes her cheek before backing away to remove her own clothes. Jo braces her hands on her knees and stands slowly, and the obvious pain makes Sauria's heart ache. She must be making a face because Jo just as quickly leans over and plants a quick kiss on her lips. She then gently presses a hand over Sauria's heart again, her intent obvious. Sauria curls her hands around Jo's immediately.
"I love you too."
Kirei joins the boys in the kitchen after fetching Jo some new clothes. They're both sitting at the table, Daisuke wolfing down some chips Andrew got for him.
"And then they just ran, it was fucking crazy. Jo stood there and watched them leave like some movie scene, then just kind of toppled over. I caught her before she fell though, luckily. She never told me she could fight like that." Daisuke pauses to inhale more chips, and Kirei slides into a chair between them. It was hard not to grab Andrew's hand and lace their fingers together, but their relationship was a secret to everyone at the school besides Jo and Sauria. They especially didn't want the loud-mouthed Daisuke to know.
He gives her a lewd smile when she sits, but keeps on topic. "You get her all patched up?" Andrew scowls when Daisuke's eyes zone into Kirei's boobs but holds his tongue.
Kirei nods and snatches the chips away. "Yeah, she's good. Her neck's all fucked up though, she's probably not gonna be able to talk for a while." She stuffs a few in her mouth and glares at him.
"You've got some nice looking bruises too. Are ya feeling dizzy at all?" He shrugs and looks away, and she figures from the dark bruise on his temple he might have a concussion.
"Just fuckin look at me for a minute. If ya have a concussion I gotta know, so I can be ready in case ya decide to blow chunks all over my parent's kitchen."
"I'm not gonna puke!" He whines, but attempts to focus on her face. She peers at him and sighs.
"Yer concussed. Damn, kid, what happened?"
Daisuke rubs his face and sighs. "I just told Andrew, but I guess it's bad ass enough to say again." He smirks at her.
"Just fuckin say it!"
"Alright, alright. Like nine guys from my old school cornered us, looking to beat the shit out of me. A few of 'em had bats."
"What in hell did ya do at your old school? Fuck, kid!"
Daisuke threw up his hands. "It was an accident! But that doesn't matter; there was a gang problem there anyway. Public school and all. Let's just say they wanted me to join a while ago and I didn't want to. Anyway! So they corner us and start talking about the past and all that, and one shoves his bat into my chest and backs me into a fence. Before I could even react Jo punches him in the face so hard I thought his neck was gonna snap. Then everything went to shit!"
He pauses to grab a few more chips and take a breath.
"Alright, so anyway, all the guys fucking descend on us and start swinging. I got a few good hits in, knocked a couple flat on their asses when one of the assholes with a bat got my head." He points to the bruise for clarification.
"I don't really remember what happened right after that, but when I came back to my senses they were circled around Jo and one of 'em had his bat pressed into her neck, hard, up against the fence. I think there was a sharp broken part she was pressed against, cause when she made her move and twisted to throw him off I could see blood just start pouring out of her back. As soon as she got him off he turned and slammed the bat right into her ribs, and when he cocked back again she fucking caught it and got it away from him! It was crazy. I got to my feet and started throwin punches again, and that plus Jo's little bat-trick finally got them to run away. I think they were scared they couldn't drop us, but I dunno. They were yelling stuff at us but my ears were ringing like crazy, couldn't hear a damn thing."
He sighs then, and stuffs more chips into his mouth. "I feel bad I got knocked out though, we so coulda taken them without all the injuries and shit if I hadn't."
Kirei and Andrew glance at each other.
"Well you better not let it happen again, cause we gotta teach these assholes a lesson." Andrew crosses his arms and nods to accent his statement.
"Look, these guys are crazy, it's best just to drop it, alright?" Daisuke's eyes rove between the two, hoping they'll listen, but they both have wicked looks in their eyes.
"No fuckin way we're letting this go! This isn't the first time something like this has happened, and you know it. They're gonna attack someone else, or you again. They have it out for kids at our school. So we should beat their asses before anything else happens No more waiting around!" Kirei grins and rubs her hands together. "And I love kickin the shit out assholes like that anyway~"
Daisuke groans. "Come on you guys, this is a shitty idea. You really want to have some brawl with some losers from my old school?"
Andrew leans in, over Kirei, and sets a serious scowl on his face. "No one fucks with our friends and gets away with it, even if our friend already beat the shit out of them. They deserve another!"
They hear clapping and turn to see Jo, clad in slightly baggy sweats and fresh bandages, leaning on Sauria at the kitchen entrance. Jo is clapping sarcastically and grinning at Andrew, and Sauria is wearing tiny smile. Andrew smirks and gives a fake bow.
"Yes, clap for my motivating speech, I'm full of 'em." Jo chokes out a laugh as Sauria guides her over to the table and sits her down, taking the seat right next to her and scooting in as close as possible. Jo leans forward and rests her elbows on the table, pressing a new ice pack to her eye tirdly.
"Damn Jo, Dai told us about the fight. Nice catch!" Andrew gives her a wink, and she shrugs, embarrassed. She has a pen in her free hand, one that Sauria found and gave her to ease communication, and snatches a napkin off the table to write.
it wasnt that big of a deal
"Says you~" He laughs again. "You should tell Sauria what happened
Or write it, I guess."
She rolls her visible eye.
I dont think she wants to know
Sauria's lips twitch into a grim smile. "She's right, I don't want to know. It was a fight, that's enough info for me."
Daisuke shrugs. "Well whatever. You gonna tell them about your dumb little plan?"
Jo looks at them curiously, and Kirei grins at her.
"Hell yeah. We're taking the fight to them, all-out brawl style. And I bet we can get more people to join us, cause it's about time someone put those assholes in their place!"
Jo chuckles and grins back, but Sauria is looking at them with an expression halfway between horrified and pissed.
"You are not dragging her into a brawl. You are not initiating a brawl! That's idiotic! Just get the teachers involved, tell the headmaster!"
"Come on Sauria, that ain't gonna work." Kirei states bluntly. "The only way to settle this is to get in their faces. And ya know if Dai hadn't been a total fuck-up Jo wouldn't have had ta worry about him and coulda kicked those guy's asses no problem." Daisuke shoots her a glare.
"But-" Sauria is cut off with a look from Jo.
talk about it later. tired
Sauria searches Jo, and knows she's just trying to pull her focus away by being cute and needy. It works regardless.
"Fine, we'll talk about it later. But we are talking about it later!" Jo smiles tiredly and nods, then nestles down against Sauria's shoulder, humming quietly.
"Damn Ria, you are so whipped." Daisuke smirks at her, and Sauria returns with a hard stare.
She's about to retort when they're interrupted by Jo groaning loudly. Sauria leans into her, worried.
"What is it Jo??" She scratches a few words on her napkin and fake-cries into Sauria's shoulder.
fucking school tomorrow
They all read it and groan along with her.
